The largest Horse Chestnut tree in the Garden had Bleeding Cancer which was getting rapidly worse. A decision to fell this for safety reasons was followed by the problem of how to extract this from the very far corner of the garden. The Georgian Townhouse are the new owners of 9 Unthank Road and kindly permitted us to take the tree from their premises using a major crane.
All was safely achieved with the tree felled in stages with the largest pieces weighing over 2 tonnes and all was taken to the ground and cleared away. The chippings from the branches will be used in the Garden to make up the paths this spring.
