Become a Volunteer

There are many opportunities for contributing to the success of
The Plantation Garden.

Garden Guides

Garden tours normally take place in the summer months and last for about an hour. We need more guides! If you have an interest in the history of the garden and would like to assist in taking groups on a guided tour, we would love to hear from you. We have plenty of material to assist you and will give you support.

Please contact events@plantationgarden.co.uk

Sunday Teas Volunteers and Cake Makers

The Plantation Garden Tea Lodge serves a variety of teas, coffee and soft drinks for children and a selection of homemade cakes and scones from 2pm until 4pm every Sunday from late June to mid-September.

The afternoon tea service is provided by our team of volunteers, and we now need some new recruits to help serve tea and bake cakes as some of our longer serving volunteers retire or move away.  Volunteers generally help on three or four Sundays over the summer season, but this can be adjusted to suit availability.

If you would like to join our Tea Team, or if you would be happy to bake cakes occasionally, please get in touch so that we can provide more information and answer any questions you may have.  We look forward to welcoming some new faces to our friendly team!

Event Stewards

Do you enjoy meeting the public?  On Sundays we need volunteers to welcome visitors, take their entrance fees, sell garden guides and generally make people feel welcome.  At other events we need volunteers to take tickets and act as stewards.  If you would like to be involved in this way on an occasional basis, we would like to hear from you.  You get to see events free!

Please contact events@plantationgarden.co.uk

Gardeners

Our volunteer gardeners are doing a great job of maintaining the garden and caring for the lawns and beds – under the direction of our head gardener James.

The team work together on Tuesdays.  If you are interested in joining us,  please drop a line to our chair stating your particular interests or skills.  You’ll be very welcome.
