The gargoyle that grimaces at us near the medieval window in the garden appears in photographs of Mr and Mrs Green, who lived in Plantation House after Henry Trevor. At some stage the gargoyle disappeared and was returned to the garden much later by a descendant of the Green family. The gargoyle is silent on whether he enjoyed his temporary exile, but we are pleased to see him amusing visitors once more.
