A new shed was set into the bank just beyond the rustic bridge to house chairs, tables and other equipment for the events held in the garden.

The largest Horse Chestnut in the south east corner of the Garden was infected with canker and was felled and removed by crane into the adjoining hotel car park.

Teams from Aviva gave their time as part of a community offer by the company and moved gravel onto the Italian Terrance and painted all the fencing and sheds.

Each year the pond under the fountain is covered to keep out the leaves from the autumn fall

A new asphalt drive improved access to the Garden for wheelchairs, pushchairs and even wheelbarrows.

A new brick and flint wall in the entrance area retains a ‘dry bed’ with drought resistant plants that do not need watering.

A car in the adjoining hotel car park reversed into the brick wall and demolished a large section.

Tree surgeons pruned several trees and the gardeners used the chippings to surface the paths

The rustic bridge was built in 1998 and now had a degree of rot which has been removed and the structure strengthened.

The droughts and rising costs encouraged us to seek an alternative water source with a borehole 160ft deep.  Water is now available throughout the Garden and the team have improved the pipework to achieve this.
